At the start of the footpath along Froggatt Edge it's not immediately obvious what awaits you further along the path as much of the view is obscured by trees. Along the first mile or so you have to take small detours of the path to the right to see the imposing rock formations and sheer drops down to the valley below. Along this stretch of path there are some photogenic birch trees that look great in autumn. After about a mile as the path veers left the landscape starts to clear and you can get much clearer views of the weathered rocks that line the top of the ridge and the valley beneath you. Here you can get clear views to the sunset in the west, using the rocks in the foreground.
Venue Verdict: Froggatt Edge offers great views and impressive rock formations, but like much of the Peak District you need great light to make it really spectacular.
