Coniston Water

Directions: Coniston Water is located in the southern Lake District with the village of Coniston at its northern edge. There are plenty of parking spots all around the shores. On the south side there are a couple on the A5084, along with several others on the minor road on the east shore.
Accessibility: There is plenty of parking and large areas are easily accessible on foot.
Costs: None
Best time to visit: Both sunrise and sunset can be captured from the shores of Coniston Water, and like most of the Lake District it’s hard to beat the autumn for spectacular colours.

Venue information

Like most of the larger bodies of water in the Lake District, the shores and views of Coniston Water are a popular spot for photographers and walkers alike. The shores are easily accessible with plenty of parking, and with the high fells and the Old Man of Coniston as a backdrop it’s easy to see why. Some of the best views of Coniston Water are found along its southern shores, with plenty of rocky outcrops to use as foreground interest and spectacular views back towards Coniston village. This is typified by the area near a picnic site half way along the A508.

Venue verdict: Coniston water is a classic Lake District location, and offers plenty of easily accessible views.

    The Lakes is one of the most fantastic places to photography as it changes every day with the seasons and the weather (yes there is more rain than sun, but thats why its the LAKE district) I am honoured to live here and be surrounded by such fantastic views daily.

    Without doubt one of the finest parts of the Lakes for photography.
