This picturesque area in the heart of the Lake District has the potential to be an excellent place for photographers. However, its popularity is a cause for concern.
Finding the place was simple enough and there was enough spare land to grab a parking space, but once inside the circle, it was evident that this was a magnet for the general tourist too. For well over an hour we sat, just waiting for the area to clear, as more tourists arrived as others left.
After the wait, we took some shots from various angles, as the peaks and hills make for super backdrops. As the main review says, this is an area that is made for sunrises and sunsets, but even with a wideangle lens, getting the full circle in, doesn't give a decent composition, so worthwhile taking your pick of the many different shaped rocks.
I could see this being a fantastic place to spend the Summer Solstice, it has that Stonehenge feel to it, but its well worth a visit if you can time it right.
