How do I?...

Hi everyone!

Here at PP we're always keen to hear your photo questions and problems. What lens should I use for portraits? Where should I get my kit insured? How do I clean my kit?... the list goes on.

Well... as of next month we're trying harder than ever before to answer your questions in a new 'How do I ?...' feature.

So get your thinking caps on and send us some photo-related questions to this thread.

Look forward to hearing from you all,

Ed

Hi Ed,

Is this the same as THIS which didn't seem to go too far?

Hi there...

Yeah, I should've explained... the questions are to be used (and answered) in the new feature appearing in PP.

Sorry for any confusion...

It would appear from the responses so far that everyone already knows how to do everything they want to

How about explaining how to tether your camera to the pc so that you can see the image you've just taken straight away on the screen?

and How to do Time Lapse photography?

Re: How do I?...

I would love more articles etc on composition; how to make photos more involving, interesting etc. Ok it's a personal bias, but the tech stuff I just don't find challenging, you can look it up and follow it cook book style and get the result, but the more artistic 'craft' side of photography that I find extremely challenging.
My photos that have tech faults (inc photoshop heavy handedness or lack of subtlety) I can see where I went wrong, however i have a number that look ok, correctly exposed no shake etc - but just not involving.

So I would love more on the creation of a photograph, not the mechanics behind the technology.

Thinking further on that theme, more 'masterclasses' type ideas, along the lines of the already good (and helpful) how to improve series you run, but perhaps concentrating on a single theme, people send in photos that are ok on the said theme and some are then picked for the article. In addition with PP staff / professionals etc to not only how to improve the ones sent in - but a this is how I took the photo to the best of my ability and why they chose the angles / lighting settings etc ?

Could also link this to seasons; autumn mists& landscape fireworks (bit late now I appreciate)  interesting christmas shots (sorry rude word to some this early in the year) snow photograpy (not just in the alps etc).

With the timing of publishing - you could start your PP team on this a year ahead taking the photos and build it as a series for next year.

Great idea Kathy. I've just bought an intervalometer and know what to do to get the pics, it's the processing after that I could do with some tips.
