For adjusting tones in your images, an excellent way is to use Photoshop’s built in Photo Filters, found by going to Image > Adjustments > Photo Filters or from the Adjustment Layer list in the Layers palette. It’s always best to use an Adjustment Layer if you want to work non-destructively.

There are 20 Photo Filter presets to choose from including warming and cooling filters and an underwater filter. The density of the filter effect can also be controlled by either increasing or decreasing the Density slider.

If you want to maintain image brightness, make sure you tick the Preserve Luminosity box.
