If you want to cut out a specific object or subject in a photograph, or fancy creating an ultra fine selection, Photoshop’s Pen Tool is one of the most precise tools to use.

The Pen Tool can be found in the toolbox and the keyboard shortcut is the letter P. Before you start it’s important to set up the tool correctly in the options bar. Make sure you’re selected on Paths and the Pen Tool, not the Freeform Pen Tool. Placing a tick in the Auto Add/Delete box lets you add an anchor point when you click on a line segment, or delete an anchor point when you click it.
