This is a rotational dial that can be swivelled around to change a camera’s mode setting. Found on both compacts and D-SLRs and placed on a camera’s top-plate. On compacts you’re likely to find the mode dial on the far right of the to-pplate, meaning you can change the mode quickly and easily with your thumb. On a D-SLR they’re usually found on the left-hand side.
