Colour cast

This is usually an unwanted overall colour tint that appears when the colour temperature of the light doesn't match the white balance of the camera or film.
It can also be caused by the light reflected off a strongly coloured object either in the image or outside the frame. The latter is most commonly found when shooting outside close to vegetation, where the subject can take on a green colour cast from the light reflected off the foliage.
It can be corrected using correction filters on the camera, a white balance setting that corresponds to the lighting, or by adjusting the colours in imaging software.
It can also refer to an unwanted colour tint on black & white or colour prints caused by inconsistency between the colours shown on screen and those produced by the printer.
