With a diverse range photographic courses to choose from you’re spoilt for choice. Choosing the right course can be a minefield, but after reading our guide we hope you have a better idea of where you’re heading.

When choosing a course knowing what you would like to achieve by the end is important. Is it simply improved skills and some new friends? Are you looking for a change of career? Knowing this before you start will make the course selection process easier for you.

Whatever you choose, make sure you research adequately. Course fees are not set nationally, so you could find the same course for very different prices at different colleges in the same town. Don’t be pushed onto a course you don’t need to take because this will waste both your time and money.

Photography has always been a career where professionals don’t need formal qualifications to obtain work. With more photographers graduating from UK colleges and universities each year than there are jobs in the whole of Western Europe, competition in the industry is high.
