22 July 2008 15:09
GCSE photography is offered part-time during the day or evening at many colleges. The course provides a direct route onto AS/A2 (A-level) and develops students’ knowledge and understanding of; the use of light, view points, composition, depth-of-field, darkroom techniques. Work can be undertaken using tradition processes or digitally.
GCSE Photography is 60% coursework and 40% takes the form of a supervised practical exam. This lasts up to 10 hours spread over two sessions. Students respond to one of several set briefs by shooting, processing, printing and presenting their own work. This could be working in areas such as portraiture, documentary and/or photojournalism, environmental photography and experimental photography.
